London-based illustrator and graphics animator Peter Crowther created a detailed image of an AI structure looming over a construction site, with hidden key players who have shaped the revolution. The structure appears in constant motion, reflecting the ever-evolving nature of the AI industry.
Crowther, a graduate of the Royal College of Art with a background in graphic design, carefully considers the brief before beginning his work. He visualizes the entire process at once, often experiencing a sudden flash of inspiration at unexpected moments. In his image, the intricacies of computer chips are reflected in the detailed design of the AI structure, emphasizing the complexity of the technological revolution that is underway. The work-in-progress nature of the structure, with seemingly permanent scaffolding, highlights the ongoing development and innovation in the AI industry.
In contrast, digital painter Jason Seiler created an image inspired by a famous 1932 photograph of construction workers on a steel beam above the RCA building in New York City. Some of the architects of the AI revolution are depicted in Seiler’s image, paying homage to the iconic photograph that TIME has named as one of the most influential of all time. Seiler, a classically trained oil painter, spent over a week painting the scene on a 21-inch LCD display, showcasing his skill and attention to detail in capturing the essence of the AI revolution.
