Make the Most of Every Day by Embracing Change

Chief Master Sgt. David A. Flosi is departing his position as Command Chief of Air Force Materiel Command to become the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. As he leaves, he advises Airmen to make every day count and embrace the changes necessary to meet the needs of today’s power competition. Flosi emphasizes the importance of acknowledging the good in every day and opportunity, as the Air Force navigates sweeping changes affecting people, combat power, force readiness, and capability delivery.

Arriving at AFMC in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Flosi has experience in managing change and supporting the organization through challenging times. He played a role in decision-making processes during the pandemic, ensuring mission commitments were met while adapting to new circumstances. Flosi’s advocacy for AFMC’s contributions to the warfighting spectrum involved articulating the critical role Total Force Airmen play in supporting the fight, showcasing the command’s capabilities to senior leaders across commands.

During Flosi’s tenure at AFMC, the command made significant strides in caring for its civilian population, implementing improved on-boarding processes, supervisor training, resiliency initiatives, and family care programs. As the largest employer of civilians in the Air Force, AFMC has set a new standard in these areas that the rest of the Air Force is striving to achieve. Flosi also played a role in AFMC’s new responsibilities as the Servicing Major Command for the U.S. Space Force, ensuring Airmen serving in the USSF receive the necessary support. As he transitions to his new role, Flosi reflects on the sense of family and camaraderie at AFMC and encourages Airmen to take advantage of opportunities to serve and make every day count in their roles as members of the best flying force in the world.
