The Department of the Air Force (DAF) has been participating in the Public-Private Talent Exchange (PPTE) program since September 2023. Through this program, Jamal Mahboob, a Google Cloud Platform Customer Engineer at Google Public Sector, has been working with the DAF Chief Technology Officer as a subject matter expert and technical advisor. Mahboob has been providing his technical expertise to bridge the gap between industry and the DAF. The PPTE program is a competitive professional development program that aims to increase partnership opportunities and communication between the government and industry. It allows Department of Defense and industry professionals to gain exposure and experience in operations, business culture, and challenges while sharing innovative best practices.
The PPTE program highlights the commitment of the DAF to enhancing the partnership between the military and industry. It aims to promote a more dynamic synergy between the DAF and industry leaders, fostering a culture of mutual learning, innovation, and continuous improvement. The program allows industry leaders to share cutting-edge practices and technologies that complement the military’s expertise, ultimately enhancing national security.
The DAF has a long history of supporting collaboration with industry through programs like the Education With Industry Program. This program allows DAF personnel to work with industry partners for a 10-month immersion, gaining hands-on industry experience, knowledge, and perspective that they can bring back to the DAF. The PPTE program further solidifies the DAF’s position at the forefront of innovation and accelerates the development and deployment of advanced solutions.
