Lieutenant General Janusz Adamczak, Director General of the NATO International Military Staff, recently attended the Allied Warfare Development Conference hosted by General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, in Virginia, United States. The conference, which took place from 5 to 8 December 2023, brought together Flag and General Officers, as well as Senior Civilian decision makers from NATO Nations, to discuss various topics related to warfare development. The aim of the conference was to promote interaction and collaboration among senior NATO leaders involved in shaping the future of NATO’s military operations.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Shaping Today to Succeed Tomorrow”, with a focus on the Future Operating Environment, Cross-Domain Command and Control, and challenges associated with the NATO Defence Planning Process and capacity building. Lieutenant General Adamczak delivered a keynote speech at the conference, highlighting the importance of NATO’s warfare development activities, next-generation command and control, and the need to prepare for future high-intensity conflicts with peer adversaries. He emphasized the importance of increased interoperability and the seamless combination of preparing for current challenges while also planning for future threats in order to keep up with the evolving security environment.
In his speech, Lieutenant General Adamczak stressed the need for NATO to adapt to the changing nature of military operations, which are becoming increasingly multi-domain in nature. He emphasized the importance of building a continuum of preparedness that can support maneuver plans capable of delivering a variety of mutually contributing effects.
