Most of the missiles were destroyed before reaching their target, but some caused minimal damage. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. The opportunity for diplomacy to de-escalate tensions in the region was also discussed, including a potential hostage release and cease-fire deal in Gaza and an agreement in Lebanon to allow civilians to return safely to their homes. The U.S. remains committed to supporting efforts to reduce tensions in the region and promote peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

Concerns have arisen that Russia may deploy these soldiers in combat or to support combat operations against Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. This move is seen as a desperate escalation by President Putin, indicating potential trouble for Russia.
