Acting Chief of National Guard Bureau Focuses on Stability Amid Transition in U.S. Department of Defense

Highlighting recent accomplishments, Stubbs mentioned the Guard’s humanitarian aid response to the COVID-19 pandemic, assistance to flood victims in Kentucky, and rescue efforts during the California Creek Fire. He emphasized that the entire nation relies on the National Guard and praised the dedication and commitment of Guardsmen. Stubbs expressed his pride in serving as acting chief and as a National Guardsman, stating that despite the dynamic world, the Guard remains strong due to the efforts of its members.

Having received Senate confirmation as director of the Army National Guard, Stubbs assumed the role of acting chief following the retirement of Army Gen. Daniel R. Hokanson. He assured attendees of the conference that his focus is on maintaining stability during the transition period and that the National Guard is prepared to handle any challenges that come its way. Stubbs’ remarks underscored the importance of communication, readiness, and the Guard’s commitment to serving the nation in times of crisis.
