Gypsy Rose Blanchard Accuses Ken Urker’s Sister of ‘Disrespecting’ His Memory in Emotional Instagram Statement

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is speaking out again about the death of her ex-fiancé Ken Urker, this time directing sharp criticism at his sister, Autumn Urker, over what Blanchard describes as harmful public statements about the man she says she loved.

In a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, October 13, Blanchard, 35, addressed the ongoing tension between herself and Autumn, saying that being a relative does not give someone the right to speak for the deceased or to claim full knowledge of his private life. Her comments arrive more than a week after Urker was found dead at his home in Raceland, Louisiana, on what would have been his 34th birthday.

“I want to address this once, and only once. Just because someone is family does not mean they are privy to every detail of a person’s life, nor does it give them the right to speak on that person’s behalf,” Blanchard wrote. “Unfortunately, even in the most tragic circumstances, there are those who see an opportunity rather than a loss.”

The post marked the latest chapter in a very public and painful dispute over Urker’s legacy, with Blanchard and Autumn offering different portraits of the man who died so suddenly. Blanchard, who was previously engaged to Urker and welcomed a daughter with him during their romance, did not hold back in describing the relationship she had with Autumn.

“It is no secret that Ken’s sister, Autumn, and I have never been on good terms,” Blanchard continued. “She has been openly opposed to our relationship from the beginning. Despite my repeated attempts to make peace with her, that hostility continued.”

Blanchard went further, claiming that she had watched Autumn criticize Urker publicly through social media livestreams over a period of roughly six months before his death on October 1. According to Blanchard, those public criticisms were part of a broader pattern of behavior that has become even more troubling to her now that Autumn has been speaking to media outlets following Urker’s passing.

“To now see her speaking to media outlets following his passing, after the way she publicly treated him while he was alive, is something I find deeply disturbing and disrespectful to his memory,” Blanchard alleged.

She also referenced a deeply personal final conversation she said she had with Urker before he died. In that conversation, she claimed, Urker told her that Autumn had threatened to intensify her public attacks against him. Blanchard said she would never forget that conversation and that it made the events following his death all the more painful.

“During my final phone conversation with Ken, he confided in me that Autumn had threatened to intensify her public attacks against him,” Blanchard wrote. “That is a conversation I will never forget, and it makes the events following his death all the more painful.”

Blanchard expressed particular concern about what she described as Autumn acting as an authority on Urker’s private life, his relationships, and his state of mind. According to Blanchard, the nature of Urker’s relationship with Autumn was complicated, and she does not believe Autumn had the kind of insight or trust that would allow her to accurately represent who Urker really was.

“Being related to someone does not automatically mean you knew their heart, understood their struggles, or had their trust,” Blanchard wrote. “I cannot speak to anyone else’s motives, but I can speak to what I witnessed, what Ken shared with me, and the pain he experienced from public scrutiny, including from people close to him.”

Blanchard emphasized that her intention is not to create more conflict but to protect Urker’s memory. She described him as a devoted father and a loving presence in the lives of those closest to him. Her post ended with a clear promise to continue speaking on his behalf.

“Ken deserves to be remembered for the man he was, the father he was, and the love he gave to those closest to him,” she wrote. “His passing should not become another opportunity for public conflict, speculation, or personal gain.”

She added: “I will continue to protect Ken’s memory, speak about the man I knew and loved, and advocate for the dignity and respect he deserved in life and still deserves in death.”

This is not the first time Blanchard has pushed back against Autumn’s public remarks. Earlier in the aftermath of Urker’s death, Blanchard responded after Autumn publicly criticized her bereavement. At that time, Blanchard told Us Weekly exclusively that she did not want the discourse around Urker’s passing to devolve into negativity.

“At this time, I do not want the focus surrounding Ken’s passing to become centered on negativity or disagreements between Autumn and me,” Blanchard said in the earlier statement, which was published on Saturday, October 3.

Autumn, however, has been equally direct in her criticism of Blanchard. In an interview with the Daily Mail published the same day, Autumn said her family was deeply upset by Blanchard’s public comments.

“We are disgusted with her statements! She hasn’t even called my mother or any of us yet,” Autumn told the Daily Mail.

The tension between the two women has turned Urker’s death into a media spectacle, with each side offering competing narratives about the final months of his life. While Blanchard has described Urker as a man struggling under the weight of public scrutiny from family members, Autumn has suggested that Blanchard is not entitled to speak on behalf of the family or to characterize the grief they are experiencing.

Blanchard’s latest Instagram post appears to be a direct attempt to reclaim the narrative, at least as it relates to her own relationship with Urker and what she says she knows about his feelings and fears before his death. She made clear that she does not believe Autumn has the standing to speak about Urker’s inner life, relationships, or emotional state.

“I cannot speak to anyone else’s motives, but I can speak to what I witnessed, what Ken shared with me, and the pain he experienced from public scrutiny, including from people close to him,” Blanchard reiterated.

Urker’s death remains under investigation. A spokesperson for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Us Weekly that officers responded to a residence in Raceland, Louisiana, on the day of Urker’s birthday and found him dead upon their arrival. Investigators have said there were no immediate signs of foul play at the scene, but a cause of death has not yet been determined.

The circumstances surrounding Urker’s death have only intensified the public interest in his relationship with Blanchard. The two had a complicated romantic history, including an engagement and the birth of a daughter. Blanchard has spoken publicly about her love for Urker and her grief over his death, while Autumn and other members of Urker’s family have questioned the sincerity and appropriateness of Blanchard’s public statements.

For now, the conflict shows no signs of letting up. Blanchard has made it clear that she intends to continue speaking about Urker and defending what she calls his legacy. Autumn, for her part, has not remained silent either, and the family has expressed its anger over the way Blanchard has inserted herself into the public conversation surrounding the tragedy.

Us Weekly has reached out to Autumn for comment on Blanchard’s latest Instagram post, but no response has been reported at the time of this writing.

As the investigation into Urker’s death continues, the public is left with two very different accounts of the man at the center of the tragedy. For Blanchard, Urker was a loving father and partner who confided in her about his fears, including his concerns about his sister’s behavior. For Autumn, Blanchard’s statements are an unwelcome intrusion into a family’s private grief.

What remains clear is that Urker’s death has opened a painful chapter for everyone who knew him, and the question of who gets to tell his story has become almost as prominent as the circumstances of his passing. Blanchard, at least, shows no intention of stepping back.

“Ken deserves to be remembered for the man he was, the father he was, and the love he gave to those closest to him,” she wrote. “His passing should not become another opportunity for public conflict, speculation, or personal gain.”

With no cause of death yet determined, and with both Blanchard and Urker’s family continuing to speak publicly, the debate over his legacy is likely to continue in the weeks and months ahead.
